2009 – First Step on the Mats
Student – Family Martial Arts Academy

- Started training in karate and foundational martial arts
- Learned discipline, focus, and respect in a structured environment
- Built the habits that would later shape my approach to work and leadership
2014 – 2016 – Assistant Instructor
Assistant Instructor – Family Martial Arts Academy

- Helped lead classes for kids and teens alongside senior instructors
- Supported students with basics, drills, and confidence-building exercises
- Learned how to manage a room, keep energy high, and maintain standards
2016 – 2020 – Lead Instructor & Program Support
Martial Arts Instructor – Family Martial Arts Academy

- Took on a larger leadership role in group classes and private lessons
- Helped design lesson plans, belt requirements, and training progressions
- Worked directly with families and students on goals, feedback, and retention
- Modeled consistency, accountability, and a growth mindset for younger students

2022 – Present – Full-Time Martial Arts Instructor

- Teach group classes and one-on-one lessons for students ages 3–adult
- Track progress across belts, techniques, and individual goals
- Create clear structures for advancement so students and parents know the path
- Mentor assistant instructors and model effective communication and leadership

- Experimented with cloud infrastructure, containers, and automation tools
- Created systems to track student progress, lesson planning, and scheduling
- Focused on tools that make teaching, organization, and communication easier
Looking Ahead
